“My full name is James T. Hollin, Jr., and I am a graduate of the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering in January 1967. After finishing the requirements of the Reserve Officer Training Corps, I enrolled in and graduated from US Air Force pilot training and flew as a USAF pilot for almost five years, including two years as a co-pilot in the McDonnell-Douglas F-4 Phantom; a six-month TDY tour at Kunsan Air Base, South Korea; and a year combat tour as a Forward Air Controller, flying over South Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

.
I left the Air Force with the rank of Captain. Following military service, I worked as a development engineer with the then AiResearch Manufacturing Company (subsidiary of the Garrett Corporation) in Phoenix, Arizona. My engineering work experience included turbine blade design, fluidic control systems, and technical writing. Later in my career progression, I switched careers to fly as a pilot for Delta Air Lines for thirty-one years, from 1972 to 2004. With Delta, I flew several aircraft types, including the DC-9, Convair-880, the Boeing-727, -757, and -767. I also flew the Lockheed L-1011, McDonnell-Douglas MD-11, retiring as a Boeing-777 international-qualified Captain.

While with the airline, I attended Woodrow Wilson College of Law in Atlanta, received the Juris. Doctor degree, and was admitted to the Georgia State Bar in 1979. I applied for and passed the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) Patent Bar Exam in May 2007.

My practice areas include utility and design patent applications with the United States Patent Office (USPTO). I have been a registered attorney with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) since May, 2007. My practice also includes infringement analysis, design assistance and consulting, patentability and “freedom to operate” searches. My patent practice also involves the assistance of experienced patent illustrators.

I have prepared approximately 126 patent applications with USPTO, including provisional applications and design patent applications. Further, I have filed 137 trademark applications for individual and business clients, and am experienced in litigating matters in federal court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). My clients predominantly consist of individual or family inventors and small business owners/developers of pending innovations.

I am currently self-employed as a solo law practitioner and registered patent attorney. I am a member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity, and I occasionally perform volunteer work with the Atlanta Chapter, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.”
